Mike Sheard
Hello! My name is Mike, I am the Head Coach for Shropshire Weightlifting. I have competed for Great Britain on two occasions where I also trained along side Olympians Sonny Webster and Zoe smith - and at current am running my own club here in Shropshire. I have over 10 years experience in weightlifting as an athlete, coach & referee. I offer the highest standard of instruction in a safe, respectable and abuse-free, professional environment, assisting new and upcoming members find their goals and fulfil their potential regardless of their age or ability level. I think sport is for everyone and my coaching sessions are a great place for beginners to learn about the sport of weightlifting, training and fitness in general - so don't be afraid to contact me in the case you are worried about your ability - I promise you will enjoy it :)
Some of my own personal achievements and participation in the Sport include:
* British Senior (Open age category) Weightlifting Championships Bronze Medallist in 77 kg Category (3rd Place)
* British Youth Under 17 best lifter (male)
* British Record Snatch lift of 96 kg at a bodyweight of 67.2 (69 kg cat). for Under 16s age category.
* Tri-Nations Bronze Medallist in Weightlifting (England v Sweden v Norway) Youth age Group 77 Kg category in Sweden.
* British Junior Under 20 1st Place Weightlifting
* Competed at the European Youth Championships in 2009 for the 77 kg Category Weightlifting
* Refereed at the British Senior Weightlifting Championships for commonwealth and international qualifiers in 2014.
* Trained and coached Team Shropshire Weightlifting at the Central Open in Manchester in 2017.
My best olympic lifts include a 115 Kg Snatch, 135 Kg Clean and Jerk at a bodyweight of 75-80 kg and some additional / unorthodox exercises such as:
* Snatch with 1 arm 67.5 kg (10.5 stones)
* Overhead squat 130 Kg (21 stns.)
* Overhead Lift: 160 kg (25 stns.)
* Yoke lift: 400 Kg (63 stns.)
(all at a bodyweight of 75-80 kg)
My best Olympic lifts for bodyweight on points are 110 Kg Snatch at 77 kg bodyweight and Clean and Jerk 132.5 Kg also at 77 kg.
